The Nike Air Liquid Max takes its upper from a tree frog, which stops being a strange idea the moment light hits it. Honeycomb mesh shifts between black and something aquatic depending on where you're standing. Underneath, individually articulating Air pods run the length of the midsole with as much attention paid to the gaps between them as the pods themselves. It's a Nike Air design that got there by using less of it.
